Important Updates
September 2023
To all members of the Camp Kinder Ring family:
As we reflect on the recently completed Summer of 2023, we wanted to take a moment to share some exciting news in the world of Camp Kinder Ring.
As many of you are aware, Camp Kinder Ring was founded in 1927 by the Workers Circle (formerly known as the Workmen’s Circle) as a summer home for the children of its members that continued to celebrate their Jewish culture and traditions. For the past 96 years, both Camp and the Workers Circle have grown and expanded, while also maintaining the importance of Jewish culture and tradition within our lives in America.
While the Workers Circle and Camp Kinder Ring remain intrinsically connected by their shared history and values, and with both respect and gratitude for all the Workers Circle has brought to Camp, we are very excited to announce that Camp Kinder Ring will now continue to grow as an independent entity, standing on its own as a leader in the world of Jewish camping. After much discussion, both entities believe that each will thrive following this legal separation, especially because we part as friends, with ongoing plans for activities and future events together. Most importantly, the world inside the gates of Camp Kinder Ring will continue in the same magical way it always has, with Marc, Jessica, and the staff leading the way, supported by the Board of Directors.
As Camp begins the lead up to its 100th anniversary, we are proud to share that Kinder Ring is over 500 campers strong and one of the most in-demand Jewish overnight camps on the East Coast. As we stand now, nearly nine months before we open the gates in June 2024, we are nearing capacity and beginning waitlists in certain divisions. Our motto – “Making the World a Better Place, Starting Right Here at Camp Kinder Ring” – is resonating throughout the camping world. Whether you were a camper, a staff member, or the parent of a camper in the 1930s, the 1980s, in 2023, or any time in between, Camp Kinder Ring still feels like home today. From the moment you see the sign for Beekman Road on the Taconic Parkway or walk up the yellow steps towards the waterfront, you are immediately filled with that iconic friendship, love, and spirit that makes Camp Kinder Ring so unique.
As we near the close of our first century, it is important to ensure that Camp flourishes for the next 100 years. In addition to the hard work of our staff members and volunteers who comprise our Board of Directors and committees, your contributions are key to securing Camp’s future. Donations of time, money, and expertise are all of equal importance and are greatly appreciated. We are truly proud of all that Camp Kinder Ring has meant to thousands of campers and staff members over the years and of the significant improvements that we have already made to enhance our property and provide current campers with impressive facilities and innovative programming. As Camp will remain a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we will continue to rely on donations to keep tuition at a competitive level and fund projects to further improve our property while maintaining its function and beauty. We hope you share our excitement about this significant moment in Camp’s history and that you will make a donation to Kinder Ring’s annual campaign by clicking on “DONATE TO KR” on our website (www.campkr.com) or mailing a check to the camp address. Also, please keep Camp in mind for your annual giving and long-term financial planning.
Please be sure to follow us on social media and share your current contact information so that you can hear about the many events we will be hosting leading up to our incredible 100th Year Celebration in 2027.
We are proud of our past, thrilled with our present, and are filled with great anticipation for our future. Join us as we launch into independence and share in the excitement of all that is to come. We hope to see you at one, many, or all of our events over the next few months and years and look forward to welcoming everyone in the Kinder Ring family as we celebrate our first 100 years. Camp Kinder Ring’s future begins today!
In Friendship, Love, and Spirit,
Eric Roth Marc Rauch
President of the Board of Directors Director, Camp Kinder Ring
