What Is Zip-Lining?

Zip-lining consists of a cable that begins at a higher point than it ends. A zip-line has a pulley, handle, or basket suspended on a cable, which is designed to be propelled by gravity to travel from the top of the incline to the bottom. Zip-lining comes in various forms for a great source of excitement and fun. Some zip-lines are intended to be short and low for young children. However, there are longer and higher zip-lines for thrill-seeking older children and teens. In fact, zip-lining may even be used as a means of transportation; enabling access to an area such as a rainforest canopy or other remote location.

What Do I Need For Zip-Lining?

At Camp Kinder Ring, we provide all the necessary equipment to fully enjoy the zip-lining experience. However, there are some recommendations for each camper’s safety and comfort. As with any other outdoor activity, sunscreen and bug spray are always good to have. Wearing supportive, closed-toe sneakers instead of sandals or slip-ons will also make your experience much more pleasant as it may be necessary to walk, hike, or climb. Pants or long shorts aren’t required, although, they may feel more comfortable when wearing a safety harness. Lastly, longer hair should be in a ponytail, bun, or braid to avoid getting caught in any part of the zip-line system.
